Provider of NHS treatment are required to check patients in England who are eligible for free care from Monday. The measure applies to planned, non-urgent care, and A&E, General practice and infectious disease treatment remain free to all. The government may save 22 billion pounds of medical cost. For applying this measure, people need to clarify where they live past 6 months. If they live outside England, they required health insurance card such as non-UK European Health Insurance card for free medical treatment. Health Minister Lord O’Shaughnessy said that people who does not have British nationality may take free medical treatment if they pay tax as same as people who have British Nationality. However, the British Medical Association announced the measure is lack of clarity and run the risk of confusion, and it may cause the risk that prevent acutely sick and vulnerable individuals may not receive timely treatment.
