“Pharmacies have run out of flu medicines, emergency rooms are packed, and the death toll is rising higher than in previous year” said article from Los Angeles Times on January 6, 2018.
Many people have been sick with influenza in California, and 27 people who are younger than 65 have died since October 2017. Number of patients reaches high in February this season, but it reaches high anytime from October to April before. In fact, only three people in California were killed by flu last year, but 68 people had passed away this season. Even doctors prescribe medicine for influenza, people are having hard time to get the flu medicine called Tamiflu because of the outbreak.
In Japan, some prefecture such as Oita, Miyazaki, Kumamoto, Okinawa announced influenza alert from warning on January 5, 2018, and Fukushima, Kanagawa, Gunma, Ibaraki and so on announced Influenza warning. The shortage of Influenza Vaccine had been solving, so people may have the shot at nearest hospitals. The number of patients with influenza are increasing, so National institute of infectious disease recommend people to wash hands, wear mask, and avoid close contact with people who are coughing.
